Today is a birthday we all share…

Living free is never easy

Sometimes, we take for granted why our fathers first came to this great country. In search of opportunity, some traversed great distances ; for others, it was to escape the constraints of the past; while thousands came for adventure and ,unfortunately, too many came against their will … but through conflict and time comes resolution … and this has helped to further define and shape us into who we are today… a strong, wise, adaptable and generous people.

Looking back, the world has changed much since 1776 when America became the first land of choices and dreams…. and hope. And thanks to the sacrifices of those who met the challenges of the past, America still exists today.

Enjoy today, for July 4th is a birthday we in America all share…. and whether you celebrate this birthday or not with me, this too — in America — is your choice.

PS. I only wish there was a championship football game playing… then it would be perfect!

Have you Fangangoed Harry Potter, yet?

Harry Potter is MINE!!!

This may not mean anything … except to us kids, but I am very pleased to have “FANDANGOED” a couple of tickets to the New  “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”  coming out MIDNIGHT July 10th, 2007!

I know this is a work night for many folks… but it should be wonderful if it stays true to the book. I am rather curious why the last of  “Joe’s” books  is being released AFTER the movie. Hopefully, this is not an ominous sign. I have the new books ordered, too!

Looks like fun!

Karen’s  “dinner theater”  activity looks like fun too!

Paul Turner of Harvard passes away

Karen and Hrvard University's Coach Paul Turner

Track & Field Coach Paul Turner of Harvard University  was one of those very rare breed of men that — if you are very fortunate — you may meet in life. A young coach could do far worse than follow in his thoughtful footsteps.

Paul was a coach who sincerely put the needs of the athlete over his personal ambitions. He worked — whether an athlete agreed with him or not —  to help determine a future for themselves beyond their athletic efforts… sometimes that meant changing universities. The challenges of division 1 sports often leave athletes unprepared for their own future, and in my observation, Paul helped many folks think beyond the next season.

Our family will miss him… I only wish there were more like Paul.
