Trojans Clobbered Notre Dame on the field… and in the stands!

this is the way it was... Southern California Trojans... scoring on offense, defense, special teams... virtually everywhere at will
“No greater love a father hath than he who gives up his ticket for his daughter…”

Well, my eldest daughter was in town and it was really great that she came over…. but then… she took my ticket!!! arrggg!

Actually, I was happy that she and Karen and Mom saw the game live…. while, I watched it on the plazma. It was great… but not quite the same.

Interestingly enough, a few Notre Dame fans showed up and occupied the seats in front of my crowd… the only trouble was … it wasn’t their seats. So, when the real ticketholders arrived… a ‘problem’ arose whereby the apparently several drunk “Irish” fans threw the greying middleaged Trojan ticketholder over three rows down… not a smart thing to do in a sea of crimson. Only his dignity seemed to be hurt. The cops and security arrived quickly and escorted the guilty out… but thanks to Kristin’s quick thinking in containing the situation… no one got too bruised.

Dad'll be sold on ebay long before Laura lets go of this! The day started off in great fashion as Karen presented her mother with a superfans’ greatest treasure… and autographed football. Not just any football or just any autograph… but a Southern California Trojan Football signed by USC Atheletic Director  and the Trojans’ first Heisman Trophy Winner Mike Garrett!

So, as far as football weekends go… this one was okay… could it have been better… hell, yes!… I could have been there!

However, the ‘raison half of me” realizes that given the bad manners of some of the Irish fans… it was just as well I wasn’t there… well, I am glad Kristin was able to handle things and not me.

Here’s a couple of great stories on THE game!

Oh yes…. I do have tickets to this one… we were on a season ticketholders ‘lottery’ and pulled three tickets! This year it is at the Rose Bowl which has always been a fun place to watch football!

Fight On for ‘ol S.C. Trojans ! Beat Notre Dame !

never give up!Most of us can remember some really great football games… in fact, every generation has them.

Whether it be ‘Mr. Inside and Mr. outside’ taking apart every team in the country on the way to Heisman trophies & National Championships… or watching Gary Beban (UCLA) and O.J. (USC) fight it out in the Coliseum… there have been and will be many great spectacles! Notre Dame and the Southern California Trojans always produce something to talk about… and many times, one of us can be found in the playoffs of the National Championships!

Certainly, when comebacks are talked about… one can not forget the great come from behind victory of the Trojans over the Irish a generation ago.

Fighting, never giving up… the drama… the excitement… is what makes great rivalries so important, so memorable…. and so much fun.

The BIG Rivalry Game day is now apon us!

The time for talk, trash talk and speculation is for yesterday.

Today …. today is the day to waken all those Trojans, old Trojans of the past and unite the entire Trojan Nation… for today is special… it’s time to fight the Irish!

Fight On!

It’s NOW time for the Southern California Trojans and the Irish of Notre Dame!

Edna gives her full attention to the Trojans! Cal and the Southern California football game?

Nah, I never live in the past… it detracts from the now! And the ‘now’ means Notre Dame! Well, we have tickets and I expect that no matter which way the game goes we will see a spectacular football game!

When you think about college football rivalries… there is — of course — Harvard and Yale, Army and Navy… but Southern California Trojans and Notre Dame ranks as one of the best!

Year after year, the winner of this game often ends up fighting for the national championship!

SOoooO… Looking ahead…. I am glad I have tickets!

Fight on!

Trojans & Bears ready to RUuUMmmBLE!

When heading off into a big game, every football player knows there is a spot you need to touch before you enter the field… at Florida it is a Gator and the Trojans have their own. Sooooo, why shouldn’t the crazy football fans in our family have the same opportunity!

Our ‘touchstone’ is a sign “Trojans Forever”.

Trojans Forever

This weekend is going to be the Southern California Trojan’s biggest Challenge. This weekend they face the Bears of California, Berkeley. Berkeley? Yep, they’ve come a long way from the left leaning, protesting, burning bras ( small ones),  and pot smoking days of the 60’s. However, these Bears are not to be underestimated.

However, ‘bear meat’ is in season and it is unusually sweet.

Well, there is another game being played this weekend…. some place back east… you know… on the other side of Colorado somewheres. I hear that the winner may get a chance to play for the National Championship and the loser someone like Rutgers… wherever that is?

Fight On!

it’s TAKE YOUR HUBBY To WORK DAY!

take your hubby to work day
What I am about to say is going to cause a number of very different reactions.

Allow me to advocate for a new and very special day called….. TAKE YOUR HUBBY TO WORK DAY!

Instantly, what goes through your mind,  ladies? Are you saying, “this is a great way for my husband to see and better understand my life?”… or…. are you thinking,” akk! he’ll see what I am really up to during the day! I gotta hide Sven the thong wearing cabana boy.”

My guess it is neither of those… but more on the side of…. hmmmmm… ‘let me think about that for a moment.’

I won’t go into all the details, but my daughters did spend time with me at work and Laura did visit with me as she could… but this isn’t about them… this is now about ME! In our ever changing world, visiting with your wife at work is a great way to see her in a new setting, better understand her challenges and do something positive for your relationship. If nothing else, it gives some background and texture to the stories she brings home each night.

Seeing each other at work addresses some real issues, the average couple spends less that 30 minutes a day talking to each other… and people wonder why their relationships seem to be rocky? So whether it is meeting for a regular lunch ‘date’ or spending time in each others workplace once in a while… the time together is well spent.

My Laura is a Professor, so it seemed only natural for me to take a day every once in a while to sit in her classes and play at being a student again. Hey, I actually learned something…. just ask me about ‘cranial nerve 8’! I have also had the opportunity to watch her interact with students, which only proved to me that she has ‘adopted’ a number of them….  Maybe I am looking through ‘rose colored’ glasses… but she never fails to impress me.

So, if you are not as able as my wife is to ‘take your hubby to work day’… what can you do?….  try to meet more often during the work week…. maybe over lunch. The atmosphere is more relaxed… and you’ll be surprised … and maybe, just maybe… you’ll enjoy yourself.
