Twitter keeps you in touch with the things and people you love

Well... keeping up with the family on technology s a bit of an arms race!
Well... keeping up with the family on technology is a bit of an arms race!

Our family has always embraced technology. It is educational and it can be a lot of fun!

I have enjoyed facebook as a way to keep in touch with folks, but I am finding that Twitter is a nice way to easily follow people, organizations and news in a convenient format straight to your phone… or on-line.

All three of my daughters: Kristin, Karen and Karla are tech savvy and it causes their mother and I to work very hard to keep up and very occasionally impress them! I noticed that SC Trojan Head football coach Pete Carroll was on Twitter and I added him and began following him on Twitter. Nobody does it as good as SC when it comes to doing what works… and it inspired me to put up a background for my Twitter site. Here’s where the family contest came in… everyone wanted to do their own! WOW… they look great!

Now, I can follow various culinary chefs, the Trojans and the musings of friends and family from the comfort of my phone. It’s really nice to stay in touch. Try Twitter

I don’t know why I made them. Maybe, I was trying to corrupt the gals at Jenny Craig Tomorrow? Or maybe it has been a while since I have had something sweet that I made them just to look at? riiiight!

Let’s just say the devil made me do it.

PS the small turnovers are under 200 calories and the large is… well… more. The calories in this sort of dessert is really in the pastry.

How we remember those we love

My daughter Karen in 1993
My daughter Karen in 1993

One thing that I never expected would happen has happened… I qualify for most senior citizen discounts. However, having reached this milestone, I find that some things get stuck in time… like how I remember my daughters.

None of my daughters are children anymore, but somehow I am like Steven Martin caught in “Father of the Bride” and I hear my little girls speak whenever they open their adult mouths. Sometimes, I actually see them as I used to and that is very disconcerting. Maybe I just see the little girls still inside … or maybe that part of them still resides in me.

So, forgive me ladies if I look at you in anyway that seems to not recognize your adult and independent status… this is more about me.

what is in a smile ?

Only one is really me?
Only one is really me?

A little while ago, Laura passed me an interesting article on the expressiveness of one’s face. Unless you are Brad Pitt or one of the symmetrical rarities, one half of your face is generally more expressive than the other and you really don’t notice this distinctiveness until you have a little photographic fun.

First, the real me is on the far right.

The middle ‘me’ is a composite of my two most expressive sides of my face ( I look a little bit like the ‘doctor’ in Voyager) a bit too smiley for me. The far left is a composite of my less emotive side.

My real smile is also a bit different in that it occurs on the right side of my face. Like the Mona Lisa, she smiles on what some people would call the ‘wrong side’ of her face ( that is because Leonardo finished the painting of Mona Lisa looking into a mirror of his own reflection, so his smile was reversed).

Interesting? Anyway, I hope this made you smile!

Cal Poly to marry 10 year old girls to older men! you won’t see this on Google, but maybe Yahoo!

Hello again!

Once again the ‘clowns’ at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo are at it again!

Oh, I was just kidding with the title of this blog. I really don’t believe that Cal Poly is supporting a recent position of a Saudi Grand mufti supporting 10 year old girls as eligible for marriage because it wouldn’t be FAIR to the girls not to let them! … but then again, stranger things are happening at Cal Poly! Read Here ( btw, you won’t likely find this article in American papers or on Google… I couldn’t)

Actually, Cal Poly Mufti Warren Baker has decided — we hear — that they will be  going forward with their highly controversial deal with Saudi Arabia in spite of objections from every quarter of the community… except those who support ten year old girls marrying old codgers. Here’s part of an email that we somehow got  that explains a few things:

“we received a new version of the contract that had been reworked to fit a standard format that the Royal Commission uses for procurement contracts. Xenia and others have been working on it to ensure that the content is unchanged (or acceptable) and that contractual and financial terms and conditions are acceptable (some of these changed).”

Well…  we also heard — and it is unbelievable how much we do hear — that Cal Poly will have to ‘front’ the project until acceptable results are achieved!

So, here are a few things you are unlikely to find on Google:

Cal Poly Graduation: Be ‘coul’ dude

Who’s really embarrassing Cal Poly?

Cal Poly & Saudi Arabia: Send in the clowns!

Behind the Cal Poly & Saudi Arabian Green Door

ssshhh… Saudi Arabia is watching you!

Cal Poly degrees for Sale?

I am told this is Warren Baker... but I Cant tell... he looks so young here.
