UPDATE: Jenny Craig is Working … DOWN 76.6 lbs!

Dad dropped some more weight!

Well, in spite of my best efforts to submarine myself on moving Karen’s stuff to Tennessee… chomping down at the “Texan”, gulping down a “Bloomin’ Onion” at the Outback, and striding out on a “Cajun Ribeye” at the Marketplace in Arkansas… I still lost about 4 lbs!

Thank you Jenny Craig!

So, all total I have lost 76.6 lbs. since December… very cool!

Tennessee Road Trip — Part Deux!

Jenny Craig came along with out Road Trip

Okay, this isn’t exactly a  “Jenny Craig”  dessert… but it was one of our “planned indulgences” at the “Texan” in Amarillo. As A matter of fact, we also stopped at the Marketplace in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and an Outback in Tennessee all within 10 days… and I still lost weight!

SO, why did we choose this time for a ‘road trip’? I must have been a moving man in a prior life, because I enjoy helping my daughters move. Plus, I can’t help reminisce about that old U-haul slogan , “Adventure in Moving!” It was a fun adventure after all. This was Karen’s turn and she’s heading to Tennessee to work on her Ph.D. The only problem was that Karen wasn’t around to help, she is in South Africa on an  ‘SC Graduate internship!  …..Hmmmmm

Here’s a link to a few of our pictures.  I am pretty happy with our successful venture… traveling to Tennessee and back, finding Karen an apartment, moving her stuff all within 10 days! whew!

What did I do the first thing I came back? I opened a bottle of  Cameron Hughes Champagne!

PS. Yep I did already blog a bit on this very cool road trip… here’s a link!

Jenny Craig — Army Style

Look the salad has grown!

My daughter  Kristin  has become a devotee of Jenny Craig like the rest of us. Although I tend to think with her physical job requirements in the army she modifies her coloric content upwards. I did offer one small piece of advice: “expand” your ‘free foods’ to keep you from going nuts.

Kristin sent me the above picture from her phone that says it all. You can see a Jenny size portion of stuffed potato (very good , by the way) and a larger than average (expanded) salad stuffed with goodies.

Looks like Kristin has a good idea going… heavy exercise with a Jenny main dish and bunches of free food to keep you full. lookin’ good!

“Rainbow Cuisine” Cookbook from South Africa — Yummy!

Karen sent me on a nice journey to find this cookbook!

In our family, we all share an appreciation for the wonders of good food. That is the curse for what my  psychologist wife  refers to as  “super tasters”…  a physiological distinction where some people just experience more from their taste of food. I wouldn’t want to be any different.

This is why “Jenny Craig” comes in so handy at times!

However, during those times of planned indulgence, the right food can be fully appreciated! South African recipes and portions are quite in line with a healthy lifestyle. A particular  South African recipe book  was recommended to my daughter “Chef” Karen that — unfortunately — she couldn’t find anywhere in South Africa and was out of print, so she asked me to find one! Finally, after a bit of searching, I found one (and only one) in England and it’s on it’s way to me! I can’t wait!

It all looks so good!

Karen has blogged about another one of the  author’s cook books  and here is a  LINK to Karen’s blog  on the subject.

Roadtrip to Tennessee!

Karen's New home in Knoxville, Tennessee

Well, for the past ten days we traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee from little San Luis Obispo, California ; then we found Karen an apartment, moved her in and then drove back! Helping our kids move is our pleasure.

Whew!

Dad celebrating with a BLOOMIN ONION!

All this work needed some reward including: a trip to the  “Texan” in Amarillo,  the  “Marketplace” in Arkansas  and an  Outback in Tennessee!  I enjoyed my “Blooming Onion.”

Well,  Jenny Craig,  I still lost weight!
