Sarah Palin, Bikinis and what is Not an Ak-47

That's a Vice President worth fighting for! Now, I will confess that I have never been a fan of CNN. Lord knows I have already given their icon Ten Turner the coveted ‘BIG WEENIE AWARD’ at least once. This week was a big one for all the unbelievably stupid comments out there… but CNN falling for the old ‘photoshop’ ploy was probably in a league of their own. They so obviously wanted it to be true!

Now, their stupidity would be bad but it doesn’t stop there! Here’s how the story was covered by others on the net:

“But Lola Ogunnaike, entertainment reporter for CNN’s American Morning, seems to believe the image is authentic. Yesterday she told Reliable Sources host Howard Kurtz that Palin should maybe avoid posing with guns like this, because it might come back to bite her in the ass: I mean, McCain has been really good about painting Obama as this lightweight, using the word “celebrity” as a pejorative. They don’t want to have a boomerang effect. They don’t want that to come back on Sarah Palin, and people say, yes, she looks good in a bikini clutching an  AK-47, but is she equipped to run the country?”

Is this the same gun? Nah!

Do you see what I saw? There is a problem with this. Read what CNN allegedly said and look at the picture again.

I have been told this is Joe Biden in a swimsuit!Holy NRA!  That’s not an AK-47 ( a famous Russian ‘assault rife’… whatever that is supposed to mean). So it appears… at least – according to this popularized snippet – that CNN doesn’t really look very hard at their pictures. Just when you thought they couldn’t be dumber.

As for me… call me ‘old fashioned’, but  IF  this was Sarah Palin… I’d be i-m-p-r-e-s-s-e-d NOT offended. On the other hand, I don’t think I’d want to see Joe Biden, Ted Kennedy, Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton in a swimsuit…  not a pretty site.

BTW, Isn’t that Joe Biden?

CNN thought they’d offend folks… funny how out of touch they are.

Sarah Palin is Real

Pistol packin Ma MaOnetime speech writer for Ronald Reagan and syndicated columnist Peggy Noonan had an interesting quote in  today’s column  that seems to encapsulate the media’s frustration with their irrelevance:

“The mainstream media, which has been holding endless symposia here on the future of media in the 21st century, is in danger of missing a central fact of that future: If they appear, once again, as they have in the past, to be people not reporting the battle but engaged in the battle, if they allow themselves to be tagged by that old tag, which so tarnished them in the past, they will do more to imperil their own future than the Internet has.”

Once again the clerics of the media like to snipe at a candidate for Vice President that offends their senses. I was asked once by someone in the media if I thought they were ‘biased’? I simply said, “How would you know you were not?” FDR, knowing that he lived in a world unconnected with the rest of America, would travel up to northern New York to meet an old friend who would give it to him straight. I suspect that Governor Palin’s appeal is certainly broader than the media’s worst fears… but time will tell.

Governor Sarah Palin represents the emergence of a once forgotten woman: mother, professional, married and holding many conservative values. I say ‘holding conservative values’ because although not all mothers are conservative, they all share certain common desires, wishes and dreams for their lives and for the lives of their children…. which almost by definition put them on the side with so-called ‘conservatives’ on issues described as ‘family values.’ Nothing makes a woman think about the future and experience a personal change in her perspectives than becoming an involved mother. Motherhood seems to make all the difference.

Gloria Steinem  ( not to be confused with being a ‘mutha’) recently was quoted as saying that all Governor Sarah Palin and Senator Hillary Clinton shared was an ‘X Chromosome.” The truth is that Sarah and Hillary just represent different point of view, one perpetuates the battle of the sexes, the other will work with anyone…. even men.

Yes, as a man, I prefer to ‘hang with’ women like Sarah Palin. They just seem more ‘real’ to me. Ask any man if they prefer a professional woman who likes sports, technology, real friendship, commitment and children… and few thinking men would walk away from that. Sarah Palin is real.

So, again, congratulations to  Governor Sarah Palin and especially to Senator John McCain  for the willingness to protect what is good about our country and yet have the courage to make those decisions for positive change and inclusion.

So, who’s stirring up the world’s violence?

Cal poly and Saudi Arabia

It’s hard to pick up today’s newspaper and not find some trouble spot and various trouble makers stirring things up around the world.

We hear problems are happening in some far off place Called Georgia and in Western China… and we wonder what is going on?

Of course, there are the typically disturbing news from the middle east and the saber rattling of Iran and Syria trying to shake the world with their sparks and magic.

But, I have to ask: what connects all of these folks together?

Russia just sent more troops into an area that has been ‘having problems with violence’ called North Ossetia (Georgia) and China has been dealing with basic assassinations in the Western provence with the Uighur … ah… these are areas with a high muslim population.

The strange thing is all the protests from the West… read on.

If you run along the CIA web sites that cover these areas you get a better picture. The so-called ‘break away province’ of Georgia that linked back with Russia is Christian… the other part of Georgia… is not… it is Islamic.

Oh yes, I am sure that there are some really good muslims in the world… but everywhere you look there seems to be issues involving people who just happen to be muslims. However, we are not supposed to speak of it…. especially, ‘he-who-shall-not-be-named.’

Now why is Cal Poly doing deals with Saudi Arabia?

Google Censors?

Warren Baker Aging President of Cal polyWell, for those who haven’t noticed… tech savvy folks have been trying to lower the boom on opinions they do not like by getting folks like Google to drop their site.

My wife’s site ( http://www.laurafreberg.com ) hasn’t been visited by Google since June… and here we are in August 2008. Why is this? Laura’s site has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with Psychology, but it seems that everyone is getting whacked here.

The biggest problem is Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and I would like to lay the problem at their door and … there seems to be some evidence. The picture you see on the left appears to be a parody of Cal Poly’s aging President… the great Warren Baker. Well, there was a time when you could do a ‘Google Search’ and find this picture when you searched : Cal Poly, Cal Poly & Saudi Arabia or Warren Baker.

Today, nothing comes up on the search. Why is that ol Googly eyes?

There was another picture of Osama Bin laden in a Cal poly engineering sweater that can’t be found… it is very funny…

There is a story of how Google is suppressing blogs that use their site… but I will leave that to your reading….(Hint) it’s on one of the YAHOO lists.

So, here are a few things you can’t find on Google:

Cal Poly Graduation: Be ‘coul’ dude

Who’s really embarrassing Cal Poly?

Cal Poly & Saudi Arabia: Send in the clowns!

Behind the Cal Poly & Saudi Arabian Green Door

ssshhh… Saudi Arabia is watching you!

Cal Poly degrees for Sale? (contains a picture of Osama Bin Laden in a Cal Poly Engineering Sweater)

Cal Poly & Saudi Arabia : Send in the Clowns!

Cal Poly and Saudi Arabia: Send In the Clowns!
For those folks who know me, I rather be spending time cooking! In fact, I just came back from a fun trip to Hawaii & Chicago where the culinary delights were a wonderful distraction… however, all good things come to an end and here I am back in Cal Poly Folly land.

As I mentioned before my trip, Cal Poly has a way of getting caught up in their own misspoken statements ( ‘lies’ sounds so judgemental and may not be completely accurate… ahem!)

As it happens a lot, certain incriminating ’emails’ were leaked. I have seen them and they are enlightening in their apparent eagerness to skirt the law and seal the deal. The Cal Poly Mustang Daily did a reasonable job in reporting the issue as did our own investigative favorite reporters at uncoveredslo.com. Check it out!

Cal Poly’s aging President Warren Baker has a tough time talking before any group larger than 1, which is why we don’t see him very often… anywhere. This is why he sent in ‘the clowns.’ Unfortunately, they know what their objective is… but they can’t get there by telling everyone what’s going on. Looking at the emails, we can certainly see why. Here’s one example as quoted by uncoveredslo.com:

“I really, really hope we can avoid asking for a clarification of this phrasing and simply tell them we’re ready to sign. I’m quite afraid that another round of ‘pickiness’ on our part could be the proverbial straw on the camel’s back.

So, let me understand a few things here:

1) This contract appears to involve direct or indirect hiring discrimination… but we’re not supposed to know about it?

2) We’re just supposed to ‘sign’ the Arabic version of the contract (also the ‘binding version’) without knowing what it says? What independent source is doing the translation?

3) If this contract really doesn’t benefit our students, but will actually replace our faculty with first year grad students, why are we doing this?

4) Who is this REALLY benefiting? Cal Poly? or a key donor? I hope this doesn’t depend on what the meaning of ‘is’ is?

Cal Poly’s administration — including Warren Baker and Mohammad Noori — have failed to provide a transparent process, have not been forthcoming when questioned, and apparently continuing to push forward regardless of long term consequences.

Let’s just say, if any of them worked for me… they’d be long gone.
