Staying in touch… by knowing what time it is in their world

Keeping in touch... that's what is important in maintaining relationships

I have a variety of clocks decorating my wall above our dining nook and each is set to where someone we love lives…. a  world clock  would help. If it is 12 noon in Kristin’s world (Hawaii), then it is 12 midnight in Karen’s (Capetown) and 3 in the afternoon in sleepy San Luis Obispo, California where ol Mom and Dad live. This doesn’t count the numerous relatives living in every possible time zone imaginable.

On the road, my “Treo” helps me keep it all straight. I certainly don’t want to call someone when they are asleep, but as Kristin reminds me… that is what ‘text messaging’ is all about.

Chocolate Confection in South Africa

Chocolate and confectionery delights have always been one of my favorite things to savor. Karen mentioned that in South Africa she found a few items that might even perk my interest and I wondered what they could be?
A few of the many goodies available ni South Africa

So I checked around and found a blog or two that listed some of the names:

“From Chappies and Wicks to Super C and Sugus, Peppermint Crisp to Lunch Bar, Tex Bar to Chocolate Log, Beacon Slim Slab to Caramello Bears, Sweetie Pie to Holey Moleys. They are all there to tempt the sweet tooth.”

Another blog talked about: “Kit Kats, Jelly Tots, Sweetie Pies, Nik Naks, Peppermint Crisps, Cadbury, Top Deck, Bar One, Bubbles and Pine Nuts.”

Obviously some of the items I was already familiar and I was interested to see how well Cadbury and Nestle’ had been embraced in South Africa. Nestle’ has quite a site describing their offerings.

I think Karen is trying to tempt me.

Jenny Craig, me and South Africa

Just me and Jenny Craig

Well, here I am at the Los Angeles Zoo. Thanks to Jenny Craig I am down  68 lbs  which feels very good. The problem is that according to the BMI (Body Mass Index) I am ‘very obese’…. which is funny since I am 6’4″ and wear a size 36 pair of shorts. However, I plan to drop a bit more.

Karen is in South Africa with her cookbook by Jenny Craig and an entire case of Jenny Craig “complete Start” cereal… so she’s all set. She said she was going to take a picture of her J.C. case, her and Capetown and send it to the fine people at Jenny Craig.

Sometimes, I think with all the feasting and famine in human history that we are naturally prone to yo-yo in our dieting… but I like it here as a thiner me… so I plan to continue losing and stay a while… if not forever.
