Iranian Islamic Fundamentalists & US…. there is a difference!

The is a Difference between us

It’s kinda hard to negotiate with folks who believe they will get their eternal reward in the hereafter. After all, why protect and preserve what one has in this world  if your reward comes after death?

It seems strange that an Islamic youth would wear a ‘earthly’ plastic key around their neck for admittance into the land of 52 virgins in each of 52 mansions! ( you thought it was ONLY 52 virgins… nah… the reward is much bigger).

Even though the reward for dark deeds is great it is darkly amusing that Osama didn’t let any of the ‘muscle’ of the suicide planes know what was in store for them… they may just think that this world isn’t all that bad after all.

The drawing above I actually ‘borrowed’ and motified… but it speaks to the challenges that lay before us in dealing with adversaries that believe that state sponsored terrorism is just another way to do business. We better learn how to play this new game before time runs out.

If the concepts of Islam and the fundamentalists seems strange to your western eyes, Herb Cohen has written an insightful look and some definition to the issue.

The challenge for the West and America is to see Iran (and those who are with her) for who they are and not what we want them to be.

Strong challenging times calls for resolve.

Sgt. Timothy Boggs — American Soldier & Hero*

Sgt. Timothy Bogss is and American Soldier and Hero in IraqSgt. Timothy Boggs is an American soldier in Iraq. He was already a hero to many when he first volunteered and joined up with those brave men and women already serving in our armed forces.

What brings special mention to Sgt. Boggs is his letter to the editor to the New York Times… a letter they never had the courage to print. Funny how some liberals can be so brave with their pens… until someone calls them on their crap.

Tim Boggs was also a former columnist in Ohio… so it was great to see someone who could take the Times on at their own level. If you haven’t seen or had a chance to read his insightful letter to the New York Times… here it is on FOX NEWS.COM. Sgt. Boggs distilled the problem with the New York Times most eloquently.

Timothy Boggs was on leave in London when Fox News finally caught up and interviewed him LIVE. Frankly, he did a wonderful job representing himself. I was so impressed that i got off my butt and actually wrote him a congratulatory email! If that isn’t impressive enough… he actually wrote me back. good man…. here’s what he said:

Roger, Thanks for the email and please forgive my late
response. As you know when I did the interview for FOX
I was on leave and I didn’t have much access to the
internet while I was gone.
I appreciate you taking the time to write to me though
because I love hearing from people who have seen me on
TV or read my blog. It is always nice to “meet” new
people through email so thanks for writing.

I wrote the letter to the NYT at the end of June so it
has been a couple months since then and is funny now
to be making it onto FOX News. We tried to do it
earlier but to no avail since it was harder to make
happen here in Iraq.

I hope you keep reading my blog at
www.boredsoldier.blogspot.com and feel free to write
anytime.

Sincerely,
  Tim Boggs

WOMEN WANTED: 80 million to 1 ratio!

Waiting for the right woman!

For all those women who jested or were serious and stated,” so many men… so little time”, here is your chance to help humanity, avoid war , bring peace and — dare I say it — enjoy yourself!

Right now in China and India there are around 80 million ‘excess’ men with little hope of a steady female companion. Science Daily reports:

“This trend could lead to increased levels of antisocial behaviour and violence, as gender is a well-established correlate of crime, and especially violent crime. Gender-related violent crime is consistent across cultures. Furthermore, when single young men congregate, the potential for more organised aggression is likely to increase substantially, and this has worrying implications for organised crime and terrorism.”

There are reports in these countries of women being ‘too picky’ and feeling like they can ‘trade up’… and they do and who wouldn’t blame them? I can just see the ‘bargainng going on:

MAN: I am a millionaire, handsome and with property the size of Oklahoma

Woman: I am stupid, really ugly, incredibly poor hygiene, toothless and I will cheat on you

MAN: WOW! I thought you’d be worse… will you marry me?

Woman: No…. check back next week, I’m seeing if I can do better.

Hey, baby, what's yuor sign? So, Ladies, you want to bring about a better world?… whirled peas? … here’s your chance… and chances are if you look better than this gal… you’ll probably get your own county.

Weenie men & the ‘professional career women’ who love them….

Don’t you just love this title?

We’re taking about ‘Career-is-my-life Gals” again… the ones who idolize Catie Couric. I guess I just still can’t forgive her for being rude to that nice ol country boy Garth Brooks. Yeah, her politics suck, too.
too many bonks on the old bean
My guess is that most of the female bloggers who were ‘offended’ by the Forbes editorial just loOoOve Johnny… the original ‘weenie’… but I think he is working on only one testicle… so I should play nice. If you thought my comments hit the topic “Don’t Marry a Career Woman” hard… check out what else is out there in the blogosphere.

Bur first, not too many men blogged about this… It really wasn’t a big deal to us…. not to anyone with an ounce of testosterone that is. When I first read it on Forbes.com… I thought… okay, this is slightly amusing… but statistics — when genuine — don’t lie. Then came the tsunami of emotional, irrational, hysterical (got the picture?) fembot foo.

Some Folks had to say this:

Vox Day
Mangan’sMicellany

They may not be ‘conservative’ but they have sized up life fairly well. All one can hope for is that our children will face the world for what it is… and not what they would like it to be. Politics should never get in the way of the facts, science or truth. Continue reading “Weenie men & the ‘professional career women’ who love them….”

Hey, brother, whatcha taking to get so…. bullish?

Somehow I like this guy

Athletes are clamoring to discover what they can do to look like this handsome fellow… the guy on the right.(Looking like the guy on the left is a lot easier…. eat heavily at a place with arches and you’ll get there. Sorry, guy, you need to live on a ‘stepper’ for a while)

In fact, go to almost any weightroom and ask around — and after a time — people will generally let you in on their ‘secrets.’ Some of what the ‘professionals’ will tell you is fact, some will be superstition and some will just be bunk. However, it is always fun to hear the latest craze.

Sometimes, someone will walk into the weightroom looking a little ‘super’ natural like my buddy above and this will cause other lifters and athletes to freak out… it’s really not too unusual… it happens to me all the time.. heh heh. Actually, at 54 years old, I am still fairly strong … but it’s a family genetic thing.

Some families have a non-fatal version of muscular dystrophy that gives you roughly the same effect….. in fact, it has been hypothesized that many top athletes have some naturally occuring myostatin inhibitors ( allows for muscle growth )… but there are less genetically endowed athletes working hard on getting at these secrets… they’re throwing away their EPO, Steroids, Hormone Precursors, HGH and the like and looking at something that will propel them into the ‘big time’…. it’s called gene doping. Look for it in the next Olympics, I am sure we’ll see some real surprises!

As I mentioned before, there is a strong feeling on the part of many scientists that a number of top athletes carry a gene for increased muscle development … naturally. However, we’re bound to read more and more about IGF-1.

The interest in understanding the actions of myostatin inhibitors and myostatin inhibition has less to do with finding the ‘new secret’ for the world’s top athletes, as it does for finding a treatment for muscular dystophy. Increasing the potential lifespan and quality of life for someone with MD is a worthy goal.

One young boy being observed today is from from Germany. He has unusually large muscles since birth… and… the hope is that by studying him, possible treatments for MD can be developed. Wyeth Labs is looking at such treatments for humans after successful experiements in animals.

Well… the tests ( referred to as ‘human trials’) by Wyeh have been going for a year or two now and I can only wonder if some of the ‘samples’ have been deengineered by some of the mad scientists of the athletic community… hmmmm. The problem as I see it for the athlete — besides all the ethical considerations — is that most of these types of drugs are fairly general… and — I would have to ask – what would prevent the drug from causing potentially life threatening side effects , such as enlarging the heart in the man or woman not stricken with muscular dystrophy?

News is already out that this drug exits the human system after 28 days ( becoming nondetectable from the athlete’s perspective)…
Cybex Stepper... very cool

As for me…. I’ll keep lifting weights the old fashioned way and… I’ve started using this thing that my daughters and my wife call a ‘stepper’… I think it has something to do with eating green vegetables!

Somehow I feel better if I imagine that I am stomping grapes to make wine… but I feel drenched when it’s finally over…. yep, I am losing weight and it makes a great warm down from my weight lifting regimine.

Finally, I have to admit, it doesn’t take a huge amount of time to get a great workout on this thing… and with my stereo blasting… well… it’s kinda like vegetables… after a while, they aren’t too bad.
