Merry Christmas Morning! …. it’s ‘turducken time!’

a Special Merry Christmas Morning to all of you early birds!

a turducken Christmas is very special!

I don’t know what it is… but Christmas Morning has always had many special meanings to me over the years… but on each and every one of them… I was always the first up…. hoping to enjoy the spirit of Christmas and make it last as long as possible.

This year, it was especially important to be up early in order to start cooking the ‘turducken’ …  containing the meat of three ducks and two chickens… and the turkey this year was very large.

I know that when my girls wake up and glide down the stairs… the smell of turducken and the other scents of Christmas will be apon them… could anything be better?

Merry Christmas!

….and a special heartfelt thanks to the men and women serving overseas in our armed services… our hearts and prayers are with you.
G*d be with you always!

Jenny Craig …. day 19… it’s more than you think

more than a pound....

Hmmmm…. well, I actually lost three pounds at Jenny… but came home ate and drank a lot of water during workouts… that’s my story and I am sticking to it! Besides my diet ‘partenrs’ lost a ton… so shouldn’t that count for something? no?

Anyway, I was  a bit under the weather this week so today was my first day working out in a week… sooooo

And we are having turducken on Christmas….. and….

Hmmmmmm…… I really do like the line they teach at West Point…”No Excuses, Sir/Mam”. This teaches the cadets to think ‘honestly’… which is a good lesson for anyone.

So what does this mean? I hit a plateau for whatever reason… and I did lose more at Jenny’s weigh in… but it also means that I have to work out too!

Yep, we’ll workout on Christmas Day… twice!

Cancer… it sucks… ‘time to go to Hawaii !’

Leroy SieversEventually, most of us have an experience that tells us ‘life is short’ and that ‘we’re not dead ,yet’… so, we get off our butts and try to do some of the things that gave us pleasure in other days.

I was reading the blog by news journalist and all around risk taker Leroy Sievers on his experiences with Cancer. It’s worth the reading on the NPR site.

What struck me most was a comment he made to his doctor. He wanted his doctor to tell him to ‘go to Hawaii’ when his time was near. His doctor let him know it was time… but phrased it in a much kinder way…

“He said that right now, I’m in the best shape I’m going to be in, because in the coming months, my health will most likely deteriorate. He wasn’t saying go to Hawaii to die. He was saying, go now while you can enjoy it. Good advice.”

The holiday season can often be a melancholy time for some folks… ‘but you’re not dead, yet’… so enjoy the season …. and all the time you have left.
Seasons Greetings, Leroy

Romance Novels — ” Geek to Chic”

Geek to Chic

Now, I won’t confess to reading many Romance novels…. although I will admit to having read a few.

I do consider “Pride & Prejudice” to be one of the classics. I particularly enjoyed the Colin Furth video version of roughly ten years ago…. very true to the book. I do suspect that Jane Austin was really having a private joke on the rest of us… she knew Lizzy was marrying Mr. Darcy for his money!

Back to the romance at hand…

Newcomer Shirley Marks has penned “Geek to Chic”….

“When Silicon Valley engineer Nicholas Atwood donates two years’ salary to charity, he is unwillingly thrust into the limelight.

Aware of his social awkwardness and terrified of publically disgracing his upper crust family, he seeks the help of a highly recommended image consultant. Maybe she can turn him into the perfect son, ideal brother, and articulate, gregarious foundation spokesman.

Doctor Kate O’Connor has transformed dozens of nerds into self-confident, socially successful men. Her fool proof method takes monthes, sometimes even years to work it’s magic, but Nick has just one week. Kate knows she is accepting the biggest challenge of her career to take on a project of this magnitude on such short notice, but as she helps uncover Nick’s inner hunk, can she handle the challenge to her heart when her feelings for her turn personal?”
