When I was young, I never had the opportunity to engage in what I would call ‘social’ sports. This would include things like: ping pong, bowling, tennis and golf.
A large part of this was how I was raised.
In any event, I had the opportunity in college and afterwards to become familiar with many of these new contests, including handball and squash… but golf was the most amusing. To me, hiting a golf ball was much like throwing the discus ( something that paid for college) and — besides — I could drive a long way.
My eldest daughter has picked up the golf bug… and she too can drive well. Plus, golf is something you can do with friends, it is the most social of sports.
Karla (my youngest) drew this picture of Kristin in action.
