Yellowtail is wonderful

There were two types of fish that I loved to catch as a boy. The more plentiful was the ‘Perch” that was relatively easily to catch where the waves broke near the beach. The second — and in my opinion — more delicious was Yellowtail. “Smoked” Yellowtail could be purchased almost anywhere in the beach communities of California. This brings me to where my favorite Olde Port Seafood market in Avila Beach is offering quite a deal on Yellowtail this weekend!

What I like about these folks is the fact that they also post recipes of their favorite finds on the internet and they have one they ‘borrowed’ from  Epicureous  that is well worth the effort!

Something about being on a ‘Jenny Craig”… for years… that gives me a hankering for something that walks, flies or swims. I have found it easiest to keep my sanity… and my diet… when I indulge in a thoughtful way.

Now, don’t those oysters look… ah… dietetic?  😉

My daughters have really spoiled me this holiday season… we have baked and cooked our way through the holidays! Fortunately, seafood is dietetic? Sure it is!!!! It’s funny how you can live some place for so long and miss some of the more fun — culinarily speaking — places to dine or shop. One of my favorite seafood places in the world is the Olde Port inn and we would often go there to celebrate a special occasion… but never did I realize there was their market right next door!

Oh yeah... OYSTERS... that's what I am talking about!

Some of my favorite seafood places are “Jimmy’s” in Boston (unfortunately closed) and the San Jacinto Inn at the battlegrounds in Houston ( original burned down)… but there is still the  Ole Port Inn of Avila Beach, California and the  wholesale market next door!

Guess what I am doing tonight?
